It’s been quite a busy year and with being a blogger and trying to manage my day job, I have completely been stressed and over worked. I have been craving for a vacation all along. So, my dear friend reached out to me if I want to go and visit this Indus Valley Ayurvedic Center in Mysore. I was super excited and needed a break from me busy being busy. I jumped the wagon and was super elated to be taken away from the hustle bustle of the city into the tranquility of nature.

On Tuesday morning very groggily, I was woken up by Nikita at 6am asking if our cabs were booked to leave, I did remember booking and headed off to pick her, initially we had planned to drive down as Mysore was just 3-4hours away but then decided it would be tiresome for both of us ladies as we just wanted to relax. We both had met after literally 2 years now and it we girl’s chit chatted till our mouths went dry, yes literally until we reached Indus valley ayurvedic Centre.

DAY 1 :

We reached the Resort at around 9:30 am and received a welcome tea infused with Amrutha balli. Then checked into our gorgeous Delux Cottage and it had 2 separate single beds with a large living room and a swing. Also, to mention the washroom was as big as a room, with a separate shower, Western pot and a bathtub and a big portion of the area had a Tree growing in it with natural light that could come in. This made me fall In love immediately! Also, the cottages are Swastic shaped with balconies and front yard to relax. We were surrounded with nature on all sides. You get hot water, wifi, Kettle with unlimited supply of herbal tea.

We walked around the campus taking in the tranquility and greenery and had a consultation with the Ayurvedic doctor for my PCOS treatment and was suggest an Abhayanga with 2 days of Sathvik Food. We had a sumptuous and healthy lunch buffet filled with red rice, Rasam, Chapati, boiled vegetables, and herb infused water. Post that we rested for a while and had a great nap, since we had come here for rest and rejuvenation, we made sure we are well rested for the next day. Evening we went around the vast 15acre land and took in the tranquility and the chirping of birds and insects and retired for the day.

Day 2:

We were woken up by the sweet soft melody of a flute player in a daze and it was the most beautiful morning wake up call. Post that we had our early breakfast today which was oats dosa, papaya, millet upma and protein porridge.

Post this we went to our most awaited 1-hour Abhyanga Massage which is performed by 2 masseuses at once for extra relaxation and pain relief. This happens only in this Indus valley Ayurvedic centre. First, we get head and shoulder massage and post that we are made to lie down on the Granite massage table covered with leather. Medium hot medicated oil is used every time and each part of the body is thoroughly massaged. It is first done by lying on the back then sideways both on the left and right sides and then on the front. By now I was in a heavenly coma from the massage, and it really took me to another planet.

After this there is a steam bath for 10mins to soak in all the oil and then the shower with normal water to remove off the excessive oil from the body and hair. The ayurvedic shampoo was so amazing that my hair became so soft, and all the oil and stickiness had been removed from my hair. Overall, this Abhyanga massage was one of the best that I have tried until now. By now we were hungry and after a bit of relaxation and had a healthy meal consisting of Ragi Rotti, Horse gram, Corn and panner gravy, Boiled veggies. My stomach had never been so sorted without any masalas. This food was so energizing and healthy.

Then we had our much-awaited beauty treatment of 1 hour the Soundharyavardhini which is performed for over an hour. It is a facial beauty treatment to improve colour and complexion of the skin using gentle ayurvedic herbal face packs, face wash and cream.

The whole cleaning and exfoliation were done with rose water, saffron milk, fine rava, olive oil, papaya and cucumber and rice eye mask. These ingredients are my favourite and the way Ayurvedic massages brighten my face is a miracle. Papaya heals the skin with collagen secretion, rice and rose helps your skin to be soft and is an anti aging ingredient and with saffron milk, olive oil and cucumber I really saw my most hydrated and glowing skin ever. This massage really helps with dark circles, pimples, tans, pigmentation and gives a whole makeover and this was exactly the treat I needed to give to my skin. Ayurvedic massages are extremely helpful for balanced blood circulation, detoxification, and relaxation of body.

After this super amazing massage, I felt very beautiful and happy and hungry too. We had our Satvik dinner which really helped my system to get a vacation and relax. After a little walking and chitchatting obviously we tucked in our beds fast asleep relaxed from within and out.

Day 3:

Next morning was bliss with the beautiful flute wakeup call again. I wish I wake up to that melody every day. The day started with Yoga and in the healthiest way. Yoga and Ayurveda are two sides of the same coin. IVAC’s therapeutic yoga instructor will teach guests the appropriate Asanas (correct postures) according to their ailments to enhance the healing potential of Ayurvedic Treatments and modify their lifestyles. According to Ayurveda the practice of yoga is a very important natural and preventive measure to good health.

The center regularly conducts Yoga sessions for its guests, both for beginners and advance yoga followers. After a healthy breakfast it was our time to leave. I wish that this hectic life gave us a little more time to be in that centre.

The toughest parts are always goodbyes, and this is exactly what we felt. The real luxury that many of us miss out on are the chirping birds, squeaky squirrels and green and blossoming gardens and we got to experience these all luxuries so amazingly. The drive back was so happy I felt happy and ready to take over the world. If you are somebody who likes to work in peaceful environment or just take a nice long break, then both the ways this place is a must go to place.

My escape to the nature filled resort was the best experience ever. This rejuvenation trip is something we all crave in these difficult times and for me being close to nature is a reminder to give myself the love that Mother Nature must give to all of us. At the end of the day, we all are a part of soil and going close to it always gives us a new way and hence I took this Ayurvedic stay in Mysore, though it felt like a short retreat as I wished to stay there forever.

The Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre is not only a treat for the soul but also for the eyes. The rooms and cottages are elegantly styled to reflect Kerala heritage with modern amenities in cottage, deluxe, standard, and superior rooms with maximum capacity of two people per room. The rooms have all the facilities needed including writing tables if you get creative in the middle of nature.  The resort provides 24 hours of service of everything to your delight be it Wi-Fi or hot water and the rooms have a full range of toiletries which are Ayurveda based and the washroom and bath space is attached to the rooms for extra comfort.

After a soothing day of relaxation and treats all, I want is good food and the place had the best range of menu which was organic. Ayurveda meals are served in the in-house vegetarian restaurant and everything in my plate was organic and handpicked daily for the guests from the property.  What really won my heart was the holistic healing approach of Ayurveda. Every aspect of body relaxation and rejuvenation were considered in the solution. Every corner of the place was lifting my soul and health. Even the treatment rooms were designed for tranquillity with traditional natural single wood massage tables, wooden steam box and brass bowls and pitchers filled with herbal oil and teas.

The most exciting part of the trip was the whole view and set up of the place. I felt like a free little girl moving around carefree in those beautiful gardens. The property has a swimming pool, tennis court, spa, sauna, yoga centre and a library. I’m sure if I stayed there for four more days I would have become a poet with all the positive vibes.  The resort is just 1000 steps away from Chamundi Temple which is beautiful and there are regular Vedic yajnyas, mantras and pujas performed too. This resort offered me the detoxification which is much need for all of us they also provide pure and distressing cure related treatments for wide ranging ailments and body conditions.

Ayurveda is a way of life where you are aware of your senses and surrounding, where you learn to appreciate the simplicity of life and where your mind, body and soul are replenished every day.

Customer is the top priority here and the amazing staff takes care of everything. They offer a huge range of packages to choose from depending on the season, duration of stay, treatment the guest prefers, and the retreat required.
