Baarish from Ekta Kapoor is a series filled with romance and family drama that reminds you of the gentle pitter-patter of raindrops. Releasing just before the onset of monsoon on ZEE5, it revolves around the question of how a happy couple ends up going towards splitting up. Binge-watching Sharman Joshi (Anuj) and Asha Negi (Gauravi) starrer is something to be looked forward to especially during the lockdown.

The show stars Sharman Joshi and Asha Negi in the lead roles and Manit Joura, Vikram Singh Chauhan and Priya Banerjee as supporting characters. The show has been directed by Nandita Mehra and developed by Ekta Kapoor. Baarish Season 2 can be streamed on ZEE5.

The plot induces interest in season 1 with an innocent love tale of a Gujarati businessman Anuj (Sharman Joshi) and a Marathi middle-class girl, Gauravi (Asha Negi).
Anuj and Gauravi were shown falling madly in love with each other in the previous season. They were shown as a couple who were ready to do anything for each other’s happiness. It builds up perfectly with old school love and adorable antics of romance. This was the kind of romance every couple looks forward when they start off with their relationship, a very dreamy one where everything is roses and sweet romance.

But In season 2, the couple is going through the bitter side of a relationship, which shows the reality of life where everything is falling apart. Jealousy, suspicion and lack of understanding begin to creep in between the couple. This is not a new thing in anyone’s relationship, as all of these have emotional up’s and downs.
The way In which the first season showed the bright side of the relationship in the same way the darker and the more realistic side of relationships are depicted in the second season. It’s quite emotional and heart-breaking for the viewers and very gripping too.

As Anuj starts spending more time working rather than with his wife and from there the downfall starts. Obviously when one person doesn’t have time to spend then the other starts getting lonely and also there would be no deep connection between the couple. They start spending more and more time apart from each other. Anuj compromises on emotional support in giving Gauravi a lavish lifestyle. I feel that Sharman Joshi is the star of the season with commendable acting. When any guy thinks being available is less important and thinks that money and luxury is everything the downfall begins and there is no one the enjoy the same.

Spread across 11 episodes and more to come, this season digs deep into reasons that led the ‘perfect couple’ Anuj and Gauravi to approach a marriage counsellor played by the evergreen Jeetendra. This is his debut in the digital world.

Apart from story and acting, I also loved the choice of beautiful music in the show. The show turns out to be all that the ardent fanbase of Ekta Kapoor’s serials has been waiting to watch for years now. If you desperately want to watch some Ekta Kapoor’s brand of drama, don’t let go of this one.

Sharman Joshi’s acting in the series is commendable, by the way, he goes from being an innocent husband to an angry suspicious one and Asha Negi also has done great justice to her character and this season is very well written too!
